Yummy Daylight Doughnuts...what a reward!
This morning the First Little Nguyen attended his school's Accelerated Reader Breakfast of Champions. Participants were awarded a sweet, fat, glazed Daylight Doughnut! This is the First Little Nguyen's favorite breakfast treat, so he was eager to wake up and get dressed this morning!

Waiting for the ceremony to begin...
Next, the AR champs moved on to the multipurpose room, where they were joined by parents, teachers and other family members who were waiting to cheer them on for their reading success. All participants were honored grade by grade and class by class, and the top three readers in each class were recognized. When the media specialist got to the First Little Nguyen's class, she called the names of the students who participated and told how many points each had received. When she began the countdown for the top three AR readers, it was a surprise to us all (including HIM) when she read his name for First Place! He walked proudly to the stage to accept his award. Throughout the presentation, he stood on the stage with a look of shock on his little face. Way to go, First Little Nguyen!!!

The Second Little Nguyen asked for a photo op with the Superstar!

In shock...and standing next to the love of his seven-year old life!
After the ceremony, we congratulated him with hugs, kisses and high fives. He said, "I had absolutely NO idea! I was so surprised when she called my name!" After posing for a few photos and showing off his blue ribbon, he raced off back to class. As he was walking, he turned his head and whispered back to us, "I have to go! I can't talk to you all day! My teacher is going to be wondering where I am!" That's our little guy. On this second to the last day of school, he is racing off to keep on learning.
Another proud smile -- minus another lost tooth!
