A Birthday Begins....

The First Little Nguyen is all about some Star Wars here lately. He is crazy about Star Wars! It's Star Wars 24-7. So, it seemed appropriate to begin planning his eighth birthday celebration with that theme in mind.
Blue and green light sabers -- Obi-Wan's and Anakin's.
Ya' gotta love the internet. If you want to know about it, it's out there. When I went searching for ideas for invitations, I stumbled upon a great light saber invitation -- and it was multi-dimensional! What a fantastic idea! Of course, the First Little Nguyen loved it and I liked that it was something new and different. All it took was a trip to Michael's for the craft paper and the office supply store for the mailing tubes that it required to mail these things.

Although they weren't that difficult to make, I was kind of glad there were only four to make as the stiff paper did not want to behave. Never fear! Hot glue to the rescue. After finishing them up, we popped them in the mailing tubes and he decorated the outside with stickers after addressing them.
Regular invitations are NOT this fun!

We scaled back a bit this year and invited only a few buddies. Eight was the magic age for a sleepover -- we told him he had to be eight years old before he could have one -- and, clearly, it warranted a less-populated celebration. But, it didn't have to be an uneventful one! Want to hedge a bet as to how long we were awake at the first-ever Nguyen sleepover? The "force" was definitely with us and so was snow. Stay tuned --there will be more to come in Star Wars: The Birthday Saga!
