Batter Up!

Well, the First Little Nguyen had his last t-ball game of the Carolina Catholic Athletic Association season on Saturday! His team, the "Angels," tied the other team, the "Saints," in just two innings! No, really. Seriously.

In t-ball, everyone gets a chance to bat at every inning, and when everyone has had a chance, the players left on the bases get to just run over home plate. The coaches call, "Home run! Way to go!" And then everyone switches to the infield/outfield. It's great! No one steals bases, one can only run a single base at a time, and one gets as many chances as possible to knock the tee over....ummm, I mean... hit the ball. And if one forgets to throw off one's batting helmet between home plate and first base, it's okay! One can just run with the batting helmet on! Sometimes, the players will take it off and put on their ball caps before running to first base. But it's okay! No one is ever out! Everything is very non-competitive in the Carolina Catholic Athletic Association t-ball leagues. It's all about teaching kids the basics of baseball: bat, catch and love God.

So, it was a great morning. Both teams won their games, everyone got a gold medal, and there were hot dogs and lemonade for everyone at the team picnic! Also, one future Yankee I know pulled his loose bottom tooth out right before the game. $$$Ka-ching$$$ Needless to say, Mom and Dad had to stop at the ATM on the way home from t-ball to finance the Tooth Fairy's nocturnal escapades.
