It's a delicious work of art in the making!
Yesterday I went in to help the First Little Nguyen's class decorate gingerbread houses. What sweet fun it was! Every kind of candy imaginable was either: 1) utilized in the architectural support and design of the houses, or 2) secretly licked and consumed when the teacher wasn't looking! The First Little Nguyen built a house reminiscent of one of those A-frame log homes complete with an upper deck and a patio for grilling. Very retro! It was interesting to see how diverse the creations were: some were incredibly ornate and symmetrical while others were forged by children who set out to use every piece of candy given to them. There were marshmallow snowmen, candy corn chimneys, pretzel stick fences, gumdrop mailboxes, and even a Fruit Loop satellite dish! Leave it to a plate of candy to spark a child's imagination. Whatever it takes, right!?
For this activity, the Second Little Nguyen was invited to join the class. He was very proud to be able to do what the big kids were doing and once again insisted to me he is old enough to attend Kindergarten next year! It's so hard to be the baby...
Oh, these are the kinds of days that kids live for. By the way, look at all of those missing teeth...the First Little Nguyen pulled another one out last week ("It was just really irritating me, Mom!"). I love his little toothless grin...
