Little Muffin Man

Dressed and ready for muffins!

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday, the Second Little Nguyen's teacher invited all of the mothers to come to Muffins for Mommies this morning at preschool. As a teacher myself, I remember how fun it was to have these little mother's teas in my own classroom, but it's even more fun to be on the other side of things!

Yesterday, before leaving to come home, the children set their tables with flower bouquets (in pint-sized plastic spring water bottles!), napkins and plates. When we arrived this morning, the Second Little Nguyen showed me to his chair, pulled out the chair for me, and served me a blueberry muffin and orange juice! His teacher, knowing that preschoolers aren't very patient when they aren't doing any eating, surprised the children with doughnut holes. We ate our special treats together while listening to Ms. Maribeth read Just in Case You Ever Wonder by Max Lucado. As expected, I melted. So did all of the other mommies.

Ms. Maribeth also read aloud the "My Mommy" poems the children had dictated to her, eliciting both howling laughter and sheer embarrassment. Before the festivities came to a close, the Second Little Nguyen gave me a sweet little "stained glass" votive, painted with clear, glittery decoupage. It's one of those many things made by his little hands that I will keep forever.

A sweet gift from my Little Muffin Man.

My Mommy likes it when I build a fire station.
My Mommy looks pretty when she wears a dress.
My favorite things my Mommy cooks is spicy noodles!
My Mommy is like 40 years old. (WHAT!?)
My Mommy's favorite thing to do is draw a picture with me.
