The "snow" we have been waiting for all week long finally arrived this afternoon. We have pictures to prove it! WOW! It was a very heavy, wet snow and, had the ground not been so warm, it would have made a great snowman. It didn't stick much and, in fact, in order for the Little Nguyens to make "snowballs" they had to scoop up the slushy wetness off the table on the deck. But, hey! Who's complaining? Snowballs are snowballs, and the slushier the better for throwing at one's younger brother!
Nothing says "winter" like a pot of good old-fashioned Nebraska chili simmering on the stove. Until that is ready to eat, the boys are sitting by the fire drinking hot cocoa. At our house,
winter + fireplace = chili and hot cocoa!
Oh, here's a sage piece of advice for all of you ladies out there who like a fire in the fireplace on a snowy day: Wake your napping husband and verify that the flue is indeed open before you start a fire in your fireplace. Or learn how to open it yourselves, ladies. The fragrance of living-room-filled-with-smoke is not an appealing one. And for those of you who are wondering, yes, I did have my hair highlighted this past week. It is now, ummm...a bit more blonde.
