Awaiting Baby Smith

The Shafer, Smith and Busekist families are on pins and needles awaiting the birth of Baby Smith! Baby Smith's Mommy and Daddy, Andrea & Kris, are due tomorrow, and it looks like Monday will probably be the big day. The arrival of this little bundle of joy will make my sister, Susan, a grandmother -- she is officially ready! My brother-in-law, John, will become Papa John, and Andrea's twin sister and her husband will become Auntie Jen and Uncle Don! And I will be...Great Aunt Sarah. Doesn't that sound like I need to crochet and wear my hair in a bun?! I am pretty sure Aunt Sarah was the old lady in the movie Lady and the Tramp. You know...the one who kicked little Lady out of the house on that rainy, cold night when it was really the evil mice threatening the baby? Anyway, this will be my family's first great grandchild!! Andrea, we have our arms wrapped around you over the many miles that separate us. Even though you can't hear us, please know we are shouting, "YOU GO GIRL!" and we are blowing you lots and lots of kisses. We can't wait to meet your little sweet pea!

The Little Nguyens are excited, of course, to meet their new cousin (technically a second cousin, but who cares?). However, since we have assembled an astounding germ collection at our house during this past two months, we will wait to visit until Baby Smith's baptism at the end of May, when we are completely healthy. (SHHH! Don't tell the germs we are planning a trip! They might attack again!) We are counting the days! Although the boys are excited to meet the baby, they might actually be more thrilled to see Beau and Grace, their very favorite doggies.
So, here's to Baby Smith! May you greet the world safely and loudly! We can't wait to meet you, whoever you are, but know that we already love you!

The Smiths

The Four Nguyens are too nice (germy, it appears, but too nice). Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and encouragement.

We'll keep everyone posted...

Ahh, that is so sweet! We are so excited and while we're sending those hugs & kisses, here's wishing them a great epidural!
