Sunday, May 25

a day to remember

Today, the Four Nguyens finally got to meet the newest member of the extended family! Noah Andrew, my niece and nephew's first child (and the first great-grandchild in our family!), was baptized this afternoon. The First Little Nguyen was a very good big cousin, playing with Baby Noah and rearranging the toys on his floor gym. Baby Noah didn't seem to mind. I don't know if it was the contrast of the stripes on the First Little Nguyen's polo or his sweet cooing, but Baby Noah seemed happy to lay there and kick and stretch.
The Second Little Nguyen said "hello" to Baby Noah, and then he was off and running. Baby Noah can't throw a ball or play firetrucks, and he can't engage in a game of chase yet, so the Second Little Nguyen found other things to occupy himself! Playtime with Beau and Grace, his favorite dogs. Later on at the church, he fell asleep on Chi's shoulder, missing the whole Baptism. Oh, well. He did wake up later for cake!
What a little lovebug Noah is. Doesn't he look cute in his grandfather's Baptism gown? He slept through the Baptism with holy water, the annointing with chrism, the party afterwards, and all of the commotion. It was a proud day for his parents, and we were so happy to be able to be there on Noah's special day. The Sacrament of Baptism is his first of many steps in a lifelong journey of learning and living the ways of Christ. Bless you, Little Sweet Pea!
