The Littlest Nguyen has been so patient this week. It wasn't exactly the glorious first-week-out-of-preschool-for-the-summer experience that he was imagining. He has been "helping" me organize and prepare supplies for VBS at our church. We have been running here and there to order and purchase items, and he has had to be very quiet during several important Oriental Trading phone calls! Poor thing. We did manage a two trips to the park and a picnic, however, and a bike ride to the pool is in order as soon as the First Little Nguyen gets home from school this afternoon. But there was one important thing he had to look forward to amidst all of the chaos...
This morning I took the Littlest Nguyen to see Sesame Street Live! It was a kick to see all of the Sesame characters dancing and singing on a stage, and our seats afforded us a prime view of all of the Muppets. It was a well deserved treat for him! He was entranced throughout most of the show. The Littlest Nguyen did talk me into buying popcorn and a ridiculously-priced, albeit adorable, Elmo balloon, but it was worth it when he gave the thing a big, fat smooch!
Our beloved Elmo doll was MIA before we left for the performance, so he didn't get to tag along, but luckily he was located before naptime. Elmo is laying down right now, snuggling in with Milo and one very patient three-year old. And the balloon is tied to the Littlest Nguyen's bedpost. I wonder if that will be a fun or frightening sight when he wakes up?!
