It's so much fun to carve pumpkins! For two little boys, it's a glorious day when your parents actually give you permission to and participate in making a mess...in the house! This year, due to the fact that it was already dark when Daddy got home from work, we spread out our carving station on the kitchen floor. As we found out last year, the First Little Nguyen really gets into carving a jack-o'lantern. He lays out a very clear plan for himself by using a Sharpie marker to draw the face first, and then he makes very precise cuts. Maybe he will be a surgeon...he has very steady hands! Hmmm...we'll see. The Second Little Nguyen actually put his hands into the ooey-gooey pumpkin insides this year. As I recall, last Halloween, he abandoned pumpkin carving in favor of riding his Big Wheel! Daddy helped him with the drawing and cutting, however. He liked his jack-o'lantern! When the Second Little Nguyen was finished, we remarked that his carving bore a striking resemblance to him, with all of its missing teeth.
